The tradition of negative politics

Every election in the United States we hear that it is “the nastiest election ever.” I always wonder what method people are using to measure nastiness. The truth is that elections have always been emotional and there have always been negative attacks. Karl Rove is not as much of an innovator as people seem to think. He is actually following in the tradition of Alexander Hamilton.
