I must say that I am impressed by this speech. She seems to have a complete grasp of the situation now facing Alberta. I hope that she can give Ed Stelmach a run for his money.

The name of this blog comes from a quote from the Canadian Prime Minister Wilfrid Laurier. "Canada is free and freedom is its nationality." This blog is meant to contribute to the philosophical and political movement towards greater personal responsibility and freedom.

I imagine the Wild Rose is where all the conservatives went after all the Liberals that were bright enough to figure out being a PC was the only way to get elected joined the party and made it their own....and somehow we have an NDP farmer heading the province....
Ms Smith is not the leader of the Wildrose Alliance - yet. She is vying for the job along with Mr Mark Dyrholm, with possibly other contenders to come along.
She is only a contender, one of two or many, but her clarity of thought and speech are a breath of fresh air compared to Stelmach or most of the other politicians currently in the Legislation. Sort of reminiscent of Ted Morton before he was forced to hide his head and tow the party line.
Sorry I was under the impression that the race was over and she had won. I will change the title of the blog
